Employee Veolia Safety

In a region characterized by a diverse and multicultural workforce, ensuring a unified and robust safety culture is critical.

At Veolia, we are dedicated to fostering a work environment where every employee, no matter their background, shares the goal of zero accidents.

Veolia's Key Objectives

1Enhancing the Health and Safety Culture

We focus on shaping attitudes and behaviors at  all management levels to prioritize safety in every action and decision.

2Achieving Zero Accidents

Our goal is to create a workplace where zero accidents is a conscious choice.

To achieve these objectives, Veolia has developed a comprehensive strategy based on five key management pillars:

  • Involve Management: Leadership plays a pivotal role in driving a culture of safety. Managers are actively engaged in promoting and enforcing safety standards.

  • Manage Health and Safety Risks: We proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Communicate and Dialogue: Open and transparent communication is essential for fostering trust and collaboration around safety.

  • Train and Involve All Employees: Continuous training and active participation empower employees to take ownership of their safety and that of their colleagues.

  • Monitor and Control Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Performance: Regular monitoring and evaluation help us track progress and identify areas for improvement.

Strategic Framework for Health and Safety

High Risk Management and Life Standard Rules

Our High Risk Management and Life-Saving Rules are non-negotiable standards that apply to all employees, contractors, and visitors without exception.

  • 10 Management Standards for High-Risk Activities: These standards provide clear guidelines for managing activities that pose significant risks. They are designed to prevent serious incidents and ensure consistent safety practices across all operations.
  • 12 Life Saving Rules: These mandatory rules serve as the final barrier against severe or fatal accidents. Each rule is associated with one or more management standards and must be followed in all circumstances to safeguard lives.

Annual
Health and Safety Week

Each year, Veolia organizes a dedicated Health and Safety Week to promote a culture of safety and zero accidents. This event serves as a powerful reminder to every single employee, across the region, that safety is non-negotiable. Held under a specific theme, the week provides an opportunity to recognize and share best practices that have been successfully implemented across the organization. It includes workshops to help employees understand and address the potential risks, feedback sessions to learn from past experiences, and activities focused on risk management. Health and Safety Week is a vital initiative that reinforces our commitment to safety and engages all employees in our shared mission.
