In November 2023, Veolia and its partner TotalEnergies inaugurated the largest solar farm of the country dedicated to a desalination plant. Located in our desalination plant in Sur, which provides drinking water to 600 000 habitants, the solar farm will generate 32,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of green and renewable electricity. The use of green energy to power the desalination plant will allow a reduction of 27,200 tons of CO2 emissions !

Aligned with Oman's 2040 Vision, this project contributes to the National Energy Strategy, aiming to achieve 30% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030. We are deeply honoured to be pioneers in shaping Oman's sustainable energy future. The inauguration ceremony was held Under the patronage of His Excellency Eng. Salim Bin Nasser Al Aufi Minister of Energy and Minerals who gave his high support to this project.
